What are the 'Details To Need To Be Updated' in the UBS system when you have created a new company in the UBS system...

Firstly, to create a new company, we have to do the following :

- We must click "ADD" and then enter the company name and directory. For example, we can put the company name as 'achu_BIAGB' and directory as ASGN1. Once done with this, we must press 'enter'. Then, we have to click 'cancel' and then ''double click'' at the name of the company that we just created.

- At second UBS interface, we must key in the user name as admin, password as UBS and the date. The year of data must be 2010 in order to make the UBS system read our transactions.

- Once done with the above point, we must proceed to third UBS interface. We need to update company profile here. To update the company profile, we must go to 'Housekeeping, Setup, and General Setup'. Here we must change the company name to 'Sunny Electrical Company' and the accounting period must be 1/1/2010 to 31/12/2010.

- After the company profile have been updated, we can add new chart of accounts at G1 and these chart of accounts can be verified at G3. To add new batches, we must go to T2 which is organize batches.

Describe and explain briefly your experience in getting your first potential business entity for your UBS Project...

For this subject, DAC 2183, Accounting Information System 1, on the first day of the lab class our lecturer Mr. Noreffendy Mohamed gave all of us a project which is known as UBS Project where it carries 20 % from the total assessment marks of 50% for the subject. In this UBS Project, we are required to find an Enterprise Company in Malaysia and we have to inquire to the Enterprise Company for six month business or company’s Manual transaction that involves their source documents. After that, the students has to convert the Manual accounting transactions into the UBS Accounting System and then we are required to make a report on it. On the first day of class, the lecturer required all the students to form into a group of two or three students in a group.

We went through many difficulties and experience in getting our first potential business entity for our UBS project. Firstly, there were many difficulties to find an Enterprise Company that uses manual accounting system in their company. Besides, it was very difficult to find a company as many have refused to give their cooperation to us. Most of their response was that all the source of documents are private and confidential. They assume that this document can disclose all the information about their business and we will misuse them.

Among the companies that rejected us were :
- Focus Point, Tesco Shah Alam
- Kedai Buku Books etc, Tesco Shah Alam
- Kedai Computer e3, Tesco Shah Alam
- My News.com, Tesco Shah Alam
- Ajay Snacks, Tesco Shah Alam
- Sri Jayam Stores Cash and Carry, PJ
- Kedai alat-alat Jahitan, Kraftangan dan Bunga Apple, PJ
- Pasaraya CH Sdn Bhd, PJ
- Gedung Pakaian Medan, PJ

After a lot of struggles, we found a company near MSU which is Hangout Cafe. But unfortunately, Sir Effendy said that this company cannot be used because we don't have any evidence for their profit and loss statement and he was afraid that the accounts can be manipulated. Hangout Cafe's owner wasn't interested to give us their transaction evidences and so we had to let this company go.

After searching few more companies, we finally have found a company for our UBS project. This business is located near to my house, Taman Medan, PJ and the nature of this business is a barber shop. The owner of this business is a friend of my father and luckily he agreed to give us cooperation for our project by providing his source of documents for six months. Sir told us that our senior's have tried up to 23 companies but failed. But, we have broke the record. We went to 28 companies and all rejected us. Only the 29th company agreed to help us. =)

The experience we gained in this project is unforgettable. We really faced a lot of difficulties to find our first potential business entity for our UBS Project.

We hope that our project can be carried out smoothly. GOOD LUCK to US..=)

My 1st Blog Post Regarding Accounting Information System (DAC2183) Mini Blogging Project

Pleasantly surprised : Describing my first blogging experience....

“Pleasantly surprised” definitely explains how I feel about this course. When I first walked into this class at the beginning of the semester, I honestly came into it just wanting to look up at DAC2183 to fulfill my upper division writing credit. When I registered for this class, I wanted a writing class that I could actually enjoy but as a mandatory course, I still expected to write several long papers throughout the semester. After reading through the syllabus on the first day of class, I seriously considered bailing. Some of the assignments on the syllabus were very intimidating to me since I had no experience with any media tools or blogging. However, I decided to stick it out and see what would happen and I’m really glad I did. Blogging is a new way of teaching creative and innovatively.

Although, we had to complete a variety of projects, I would have to say that the fortnight blogging has been one of my favorites. I really feel like writing blogs has helped me develop as a better writer. Better yet, it was enjoyable for me to write these blogs because we were given the opportunity to free write about whatever we wanted regarding this topic.

When I first started blogging, I wasn’t sure how to do it or what to write about, especially because I hadn’t had any experience on blogging. I also had a hard time getting out of strictly academic writing and into more casual, but still academic, writing. After being stuck in a formal, academic writing style for my entire career as a student, blogging has enabled me to see the new style of writing that is used in the professional world that I want to enter.

An Accounting Information System (AIS) is a structure that a business uses to collect, store, manage, process, retrieve and report its financial data so that it can be used by accountants, consultants, business analysts, managers, chief financial officers (CFOs), auditors and regulatory and tax agencies. In particular, specially trained accountants work with AIS to ensure the highest level of accuracy in a company's financial transactions and record keeping and to make financial data easily available to those who legitimately need access to it, all while keeping data intact and secure.

We are very excited and happy to create this blog for Accounting Information Systems (DAC2183). It is a very good experience to do this blog.
Lots of Thanks to our lecturer, Mr. Effendy for giving us this opportunity.
